What We Do

Ku-Ring-Gai Bowmen Inc is a target archery club.

We shoot outdoor archery at Edenborough every Sunday. Clout, field and indoor archery are shot at other club grounds. Our members use all kinds of bows: recurve, compound, longbow. This form of the sport is controlled through Archery Australia by the world governing body FITA (Federation International de Tir al'Arc). For more information see our links page.

We shoot defined outdoor archery rounds as set out in the shooting calendar, and firmly adhere to tournament procedures for our ordinary Sunday shoots. There is no permanent setup for archeryat this ground - every Sunday the field needs to be set for our sport. It’s our members who do this, and it starts at about 9.00am.

Over time, every member develops a rating calculated from performance in Club rounds, calculated from long-term averages. This rating is improved and maintained by competition in our club events, and in State and National tournaments.

Once every month we hold a handicap event, in which each participant's rating is applied to the score. A prize is awarded to the archer with the best adjusted score, and a sausage sizzle celebrates the result.

Many of our members are actively involved in State, National and International tournaments, and in past years, members have competed and medalled in world archery championships.
